Twelve internationally acclaimed artists and designers have been invited to reinterpret the chandelier, creating site-specific works in collaboration with some of the most prestigious Murano glass furnaces. The initiative celebrates Murano’s glassmaking tradition, reaffirming the island as a hub of artisanal industry and new creative ideas, as well as a crucible for international artistic collaboration and experimentation.

Throughout the winter season, from 21st November 2025 to 1st March 2026, Venice’s residents and visitors will have the opportunity to admire twelve unique chandeliers that will be lit at dusk, illuminating St. Mark’s Square with the magic of Murano glass. Each creation represents a fusion of artistic vision and artisanal mastery, intertwining inherited knowledge and innovation. The exhibition project is promoted and organised by Comune di Venezia and The Venice Glass Week.

The participating artists and designers include: Chahan Minassian, Christian Pellizzari, Eros Raffael, F. Taylor Colantonio, Irene Cattaneo, Joana Vasconcelos, Luca Nichetto, Lucio Bubacco, Massimo Micheluzzi, Michela Cattai, Ru Xiao Fan, and Simone Crestani.

The furnaces that have realised the chandeliers include: Amadi, Barovier&Toso, Berengo Studio, Effetre, Seguso Gianni, Nicola Moretti Murano, Salviati, Signoretto Lampadari, Simone Cenedese, Scuola Abate Zanetti, Vetreria Anfora, and Vetreria 3 Artistico Lampadari.

The artists and designers were selected by a Curatorial Committee composed of: Rosa Barovier Mentasti, glass historian; David Landau, Trustee of Pentagram Stiftung; Chiara Squarcina, Scientific Director of the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia; curators Mario Codognato, Sarah Nichols and Alma Zevi; and 20th-century Murano glass expert Giordana Naccari. The coordination between artists and furnaces was managed by Matteo Silverio.

The initiative is organised with financial support from the Camera di Commercio di Venezia Rovigo through the Azienda Speciale Opportunità e Mercati.
