If you are driving to Venice, Piazzale Roma is the closest you can get to the historic centre by car. Alternatively, you can park in Mestre and continue to Venice by bus or tram.

Using an EU parking card

To use an accessible parking bay or qualify for reduced parking charges at the AVM car parks listed below, you need a valid EU parking card for people with disabilities. Cards issued in Italy are known as the Contrassegno Unico Disabili Europeo (CUDE).

The card is issued by the relevant authority in your country of residence and should be recognised in all EU countries. It gives you access to the parking rights and facilities available in the country you are visiting, so local conditions still apply.

The card is personal and may be used only when the cardholder is travelling in the vehicle. When parked, display the original card at the front of the vehicle, with the front of the card clearly visible for checks. At staffed car parks, you must also show it to a member of staff and follow the procedure for that car park.

The EU Disability Card and the EU parking card are two different documents. The EU Disability Card cannot be used in place of a parking card and does not, by itself, entitle you to use accessible bays or receive reduced parking charges.

If your parking card was issued outside the EU, including a UK Blue Badge, contact AVM before travelling to check whether it is accepted at the car park you plan to use. Without a recognised parking card, you cannot use accessible parking bays or claim reduced parking charges.

The number of accessible bays, free-parking periods and access arrangements vary between car parks.

Venice – Piazzale Roma

The Autorimessa Comunale has 14 accessible parking bays. Parking is free for up to 12 hours. For stays longer than 12 hours and up to 14 hours, half the standard charge applies; for stays longer than 14 hours, the full standard charge applies. Four of the bays can be booked online between 30 days and 24 hours before arrival.
The Sant’Andrea car park has two accessible parking bays, with free parking for the first 12 hours. Advance booking is not available.

Mestre

At Park Candiani, parking in an accessible bay is free for the first day. Standard charges apply from the second day.
Park Costa has eight accessible parking bays. Parking is free only when the vehicle is left in one of these designated bays.
