The Venice Biennale

La Biennale di Venezia – The Venice Biennale

The Venice Biennale has its headquarters in the historic Palazzo Ca’ Giustinian (San Marco, 1364/A), close to Piazza San Marco, and has multiple venues.

Real places of culture open to the city and to the world, these headquarters have now been enriched with special areas and services for families where top quality activities are hosted for children and young people for which we recommend that you see the schedule.

Ca’ Giustinian - children's area and l'Ombra del Leone café

The children's area of Ca’ Giustinian, located on the ground floor near the l'Ombra del Leone ("The Lion’s Shadow") café and the bookshop (of which we highlight the section of art books for children) is open daily until 8:30p.m. (see below for all opening hours).

Equipped with colourful furnishings suitable for children there are facilities for families such as a bottle warmer, high chairs, a toilet with a changing table and a corner for games and reading. Colouring pens and pencils, illustrated books and DVDs (by request only) are available to you and your children. There are occasional activities and creative workshops, available upon reservation, the aim of which is to bring children closer to art and culture through play.

Entrance is free.

For the older children, or for you and the adults who are accompanying you, you can request a guided tour (in Italian or in the principal foreign languages - see below for more details) of Ca’ Giustinian, the legendary late-Gothic palace of the 15th century, one of the most famous and historic in Venice.

Days and hours of opening to the public:

April to October: open every day from 9a.m.to 8:30p.m.

November to March: closed on Sunday

Ca’ Giustinian is closed during the Christmas period.

Within Ca’ Giustinian you can find:

  • an Infopoint
  • a ticket office for shows and events organised by the Venice Biennale
  • bar and restaurant
