CIVIC MUSEUMS OF VENICE

The Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia administers an immense heritage of historic, artistic and cultural treasures.
It was instituted on March 3rd 2008 with a resolution passed by the City Council of Venice.
The Foundation manages 11 museums including the Doge’s Palace, the Correr Museum, Cà Rezzonico, Cà Pesaro and the Glass Museum.

CHURCHES

The churches of Venice contain some of the most extraordinary artistic treasures in the world. One thousand years of history and faith are expressed in their architecture, paintings, sculptures, finely crafted gold and precious fabrics preserved in these fascinating monumental constructions. St. Mark's Basilica, the Basilica of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, the Basilica della Salute and the Church of San Pietro di Castello are just a few examples of these remarkable Venetian monumental buildings.

FOUNDATIONS AND OTHER MUSEUMS

Visitors to Venice have a wide range of museums and foundations to choose from.
There are museums dedicated to the history of the city, to contemporary art or to a specific historical period.
So many places to visit, but be sure not to miss the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Palazzo Grassi & Punta della Dogana, or the Biennale di Venezia

THE STATE MUSEUMS OF VENICE

The State Museums of Venice are managed by the "Special Superintendence for the Historic, Artistic and Ethno-anthropological Heritage and for the State Museums of the City of Venice and of the Municipalities within the Lagoon Area”.
They include the Gallerie dell'Accademia, the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti alla Cà d'Oro and Palazzo Grimani.

THEATRES

Venice’s cultural venues also include the fabulous Theaters around the city that offer a considerable and varied programme of events throughout the year, ranging from symphonic music and lyric opera (Teatro La Fenice and the Teatro Malibran Theatre), to theatre (Teatro Stabile Carlo Goldoni), contemporary music and dance (Teatro Fondamenta Nuove).
